“I musta drank me about 15 Dr Peppers.” Cinema Sips is joining the celebration of Dolly Parton Day this Friday, 9/25 by watching her classic comedy ‘9 to 5’ and pouring a “Cup of Ambition”! No excuses- now you’ve got plenty of time to hit the liquor store and get ready to watch everyone’s favorite singer/actress/philanthropist/human hogtie her boss and show the higher-ups that the world would be a whole lot better if women ran things. Dolly, we love you from 9, to 5, and beyond. Cheers! Apparently, the cure for seasonal depression is a Shady Thang! I finally did it: I mastered the at-home frozen margarita. Is this a “Midnight Margarita”? I guess it is if you want it to be. Personally, I’m calling it my River Walk Margarita in honor of that other (superior) Sandra Bullock movie MISS CONGENIALITY. San Antonio tour guides will not let you forget this 2000 flick was filmed in the heart of our TX tourist trap, and if you must experience it, a frozen prickly pear margarita is essential. Freeze your cocktail the day before you want to drink it, add ice, put everything in a Ninja blender (have I mentioned how much I love my Ninja????) and voila- the ideal slushy consistency. Cheers to the perfect date, and the perfect cocktail. Happy Labor Day!!! Cinema Sips is celebrating with THE PAJAMA GAME, featuring Doris Day as my favorite (and best-dressed!) labor organizer. As chairwoman of the Grievance Committee, she fights hard for a 7 1/2 cent raise for her coworkers, and she does it all while nailing those Bob Fosse dance routines. The movie is a reminder that in a healthy society, as with pajamas, the bottom is just as important as the top. Watch it with a Hernando’s Honeycrisp Sangria! Happy #nationalmaitaiday!!!! I’ve had a lot of great Mai Tais over the years, in a lot of great places, and I love that this drink has such a rich history. I used to say, if it has pineapple juice, it’s not a Mai Tai, but honestly, if I’m drinking it on vacation with an awesome view, I really don’t care. Call it whatever you want. (But for the record, my personal favorite is a Trader Vic’s ‘44 with a dark rum float). Cheers! GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES is finally on Cinema Sips, and boy howdy did I need this fizzy cocktail of a movie! It’s a musical filled with style, silliness, and great chemistry between Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe, AND it’s the perfect way to celebrate what has become the Summer of Marilyn. Happy belated 100th birthday to the showgirl who never stops. This Floradora is for you. 💎🩷🍾 A warm welcome to the newest addition to our household, José the Tiki Bird!!!!!!!! No longer confined to Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, he is now enjoying the smooth drinks and mellow Exotica records in the Cinema Sips lounge. Most little birdies will fly away, but the Tiki Room bird is here everyday. 🥰 🦜🍹 Y’all, I’ve fallen madly in love with MURIEL’S WEDDING (1994). Reasons why I think this woman is amazing:
